Deep inside Peugeot Sport : The Workshops

image

A life-size reminder of Peugeot Sport's competition record at the very heart of the factory.

The engineers use their respective skills and many years' experience with the brand in motor sport to tune, inspect and analyse the different components which are employed in competition. To provide a clearer picture of the contribution each workshop makes to the whole, Peugeot Sport is pleased to take you on a guided tour…

This layout of the braking system from the 307 WRC is exhibited in the workshop which specializes in suspension, steering and braking systems. Although the 908 is the workshop's chief concern, the systems developed for circuit racing and rallying purposes also emanate from here.

Peugeot Sport has its own metallurgical laboratory where the inspection of failed components permits appropriate corrective measures to be taken swiftly (upgraded materials, revised design, quality-related issues which need sorting, etc.).

It is in the transmissions workshop where the gearboxes are assembled, not only for the 908 HDi FAP but also for the 207 Super 2000.

Last but not least comes the engine workshop, one of the most secretive of all the departments to be found at Vélizy. This workshop features four work stations which are responsible for building the V12 HDi FAP powerplants. Assembling the 3,000 components which go into each complete engine takes two people almost three weeks !
