Finnish Rally Championship
26 september 2016
Juha Salo with co-driver Marko Salminen run a trouble free test rally on the first finnish rally after almost three months spring break. With their Peugeot 208 T16 R5 they won all five stages, and finally took the win with a clear 46, 8 sec marginal before the closest championship rival, Jussi Vainionpää with his brand new Citroën DS3 R5. Marginal means difference of 0,7 sec /km.
This was a perfect test event to us. By purpose we use only 4 soft compound Michelin tyres to confirm tyre wear , although it was possible to use double amount. We pushed hard during three first stages and on the fourth one I drove carefully due to bad road conditions. Last one was just like taxi-driving, no need to push. We run one test day before this rally, and made some effective changes on suspension. We still need to run one day before the first Finnish Champion event, which takes place second weekend of June, to try some ideas. Then we are fully prepared to continue title hunt. I´m more than pleased with the performance of our Peugeot 2008T16 R5, and it´s very motivating to see how much the spectators loves the grumble of our blue Lion, Juha Salo says.
The route was typical finnish rally route: Juha Salo´s average speed was 121 km/h!
