Heading into the final round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship in Argentina this week, Team Peugeot-Hansen are third in the teams championship standings and are the underdogs in the title fight. However, the team have shown dominant pace in recent events and are aiming for a strong result at the San Luis track to finish the debut season with the 208 WRX in style. The team have contested eleven fast, furious and frantic races so far in the World RX championship this season, and are excited to go to the twelfth and final round, which takes place this week in Argentina. Situated in the Cuyo region, San Luis is to the east of the country’s capital, Buenos Aires. Driver fitness will be key as racing takes place in temperatures above 30 degrees centigrade.

Timmy Hansen (Swe) took maximum points at the previous round in Turkey, and double European Champion Timur Timerzyanov (Rus) has the pace to run right at the front in the Peugeot 208 WRX. While the team’s championship is the focus for the team in Argentina, Timmy Hansen is only three points behind third place in the drivers’ championship standings, and will be going all out to fight for his second championship podium in succession, in only his second season in the sport.  The Argentinian event will be broadcast on television in over 120 countries around the world. The semi-finals and finals take place at 15.00 local time (ART) and can be watched live on Saturday in France on L’Equipe 21 and Sweden on Viasat Sport at 19.00 (CET) and in the UK on British Eurosport at 18.00 (GMT).

Kenneth Hansen, Team Principle

“Argentina is really interesting place for Rallycross to go to. The interest in motorsport there is huge, so it’s exciting for all of us. We haven't given up on trying to win the team’s championship, but we are a little bit behind. Things have gone against us earlier in the year, so maybe they will go with is now, but really we need other things to happen too for it to go our way.  The team has worked very well to get us into this position and we are excited to go to Argentina. It’s very difficult to say how the new track will really be, until we can feel the gravel and see the angles of the jumps. We can only estimate before we get there. It is still possible to win the teams championship and we will be fighting hard in Argentina.”
